Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital is a Level-3 Grade-A hospital established by Shaanxi Peo-ple's Government. It is also the third affiliated hospital of the school of medicine, Xi'an Jiaotong Un-iversity, Shaanxi academy of clinical medicine and the National Clinical Drug Trial Institution. The h-ospital provides medical and surgical care, education, scientific research , preventive health care , and rehabilitation. The hospital was founded by the famous general Yang Hu-cheng, in 1931 and is located on No.256 Youyi West Road in the ancient capital of Xi an, China. It currently covers a land area of 106,000 square meters with 219,000 square meters of indoor space. There are 58 clinical and medical departments, 7 research units, and 1100 beds. The hospital has 1596 well-trained st-aff members, 81% of whom are trained medical staffs. This includes more than 400 senior professi-onals, 140 physicians with Ph.D degree and masters degree .Also, 124 staff members have been chosen as leading members in the city, provincial and national medical associations and 40 are national and provincial outstanding experts provided with special government allowance.
The hospital has 964 pieces of advanced medical equipment including MRI, spiral CT, linear accelerator, X knife, ECT, DR, color Doppler ultrasound, which are in total, worth more than 217 mil-lion RMB.The departments of Cardiology and Gerontology have been recognized as key subjects at the provincial level, while the departments of Hepatobilliary Surgery, Laboratory Medicine, Hemato-logy, Emergency, Orthopedics, Pediatrics and Neurology are acknowledged as leading specialist fa-culties at the provincial level. In fact, the departments of Neurology, Gastroenterology, Hematolog-y, ENT, and Hepatobilliary Surgery are all a part of the National Clinical Drug Trial Institutions. The hospital has established 11 Postgraduates Training Centers in partnership with Xi an Jiaotong Uni-versity.The hospital has developed a group of new technologies and services like liver, kidney, and lung transplantation, bypass operation of coronary artery, interventional therapy of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, minimally invasive surgery and radiation therapy of tumor. It is curr-ently participating in multiple projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation and has gained recognition for its contribution in recent years with 13 Science and Technology awards. The hospital is working to further establish academic and business relationships with many renowned overseas medical institutes, including those in the U.S.A., Germany, France, Japan and Australia in order to enhance international cooperation and exchange.
